we taught 26 more people photoshop at our friend’s, by the barkers, studio in chicago. the stunning florals & decor were created by field & florist. (they did such a great job!) and man was it cold! sometimes i think “HOW did i used to live here in this weather!? this is crazy.” LA has turned me into a major wuss apparently.

some of our upcoming blogshop classes:

los angeles (sold out) | new york in person | feb online class! (3/4 full!)

alright, let’s talk about our goodie bags and setup for this blogshop. how wonderful was this jumbo confetti balloon from shop sweet lulu? they make an instant party.

we housed all of our goodies in these wonderful creamsicle drawstring packing bag by the made & found. i’m going to use mine as a laundry bag in my suitcase or for packing shoes.

the students jumped around in the smilebooth in front of a (real!) floral backdrop created by field and florist. they used chicken wire, greens, citrus & flowers! (similar to this strategy)

want to learn photoshop to make your blog or business good looking online? with blogshop you will be creating template posts, mood boards, animated gifs, retouched photos, headers and social media buttons and much more…

we still believe there is something special about taking a workshop in person. hanging out with other creative people, networking, getting out of the house and feeling inspired, one-on one help. we will be traveling quite a bit less this year, so make sure to jump in on our in-person classes! right now you can sign up for:

LOS ANGELES (only a couple spots) or NEW YORK (just announced!)

for those of you that can’t make it to our in-person classes, we now have a less expensive option to stream a recorded version of blogshop from your own home! remember, people with no photoshop skills AND people familiar with the program will all takeaway valuable information. we will guide you through all the lessons, there will be live chat support available, and you can take it from anywhere in the world! our first two sold out but there will be a third one streaming these dates:

FEBRUARY 25th & 26th (half full!)

(check out our student reviews on this online class here)

we have SO many students who print out this pdf and bring it to their boss. these workshops are a great tax write-off for companies and freelancers and you will be saving them time and money too! print it out here.

well, here i am sitting on my couch. tears in my eyes and goosebumps on my arms reading over the survey reviews of our first blogshop online class. let me tell you, this thing was a real labor of love and was no easy task to put together. i feel SO proud of our team for all the late nights working on this next step for blogshop (and believe me there were tears then too!) i wanted to share some of the quotes with you from our first students. they are so sweet and are totally making my morning.

also, i’m here to announce our SECOND online class we just added. you can sign up right here! it will be streaming on feb 1st and 2nd, from the comfort of your own home. we announce to our mailing list first, so it’s half filled at this point…

and ps. our in person LA blogshop has a couple spots too. there’s still something great about taking a workshop in person, right?

we are filling up our calendar with interesting events for 2014 (and hopefully not just in LA). so far, we have done florals, calligraphy, DIY, and blogshop. they have been selling out rather quickly, so i wanted to start a mailing list that i could notify people with before the events are announced on the blog & social media. and if you have a workshop in mind that you’re dying to take, leave us a comment below and we’ll try to make it happen.

we have used MailChimp for years to send out all of our blogshop updates to students & alumni, so i wanted to get one going for designlovefest too. if you don’t know about MailChimp you should definitely check them out for your business or blog. great custom designs and stats that you can track on how many people are reading your eblasts. and if you have less than 2,000 people on your list, it’s free. seriously, i’m a big MailChimp fan for my businesses.

we’d love to keep you in the loop with the things we have going on around here. fill this out if you have a second…

sign up for the designlovefest mailing list!

also, we are hiring a part-time blogshop coordinator, check our job board to apply!

we taught blogshop in a venue called big medium in austin. that gorgeous backdrop was created by trilby nelson (and i’m obsessed with it!) our decor and florals were executed by bird dog wedding. some of my favorite florals yet!

we used unique furniture from loot vintage rentals and succulents from sweet magnolia floral adorned all of our tables. i love the wood + brass accents.

room freshener by j.r. watkins is perfect for your guest bathroom. lovely graphics.

each student took home one of the cute succulents at their desk and water bottles from bkr that matched our florals.

our austin goodie bags were a little different this time around. we used these fun printed baggus from spartan x alyson fox.

each student recieved a delicate gold ring to add to their collection from fail jewelry.

i’m a big fan of leah duncan‘s work. we added her morning walk prints to the bags.

aren’t these texas candles from mockingbird domestics awesome? i have a few on my nightstand as a reminder of one of my favorite places to visit.

custom merci beaucoup stamps by antiquaria design studio add a personal touch. definitely putting this one in my stamp collection at the office!

for our afternoon break we enjoyed coffee from the brew & brew (they were so nice to come make it for all of us!) and there were tons of treats from butterface bake shop to choose from. the cobbler in those jars were pretty special.

thanks for being another great group!

and here’s some instagrams from our stay at the hotel st. ceceila. one of my favorite hotels for sure!
